Four hours on the water from Mopanshan to Yangshuo, then a cave on land. The boat is the day; the scenery arrives at the window rather than the other way round.

Sitting on a boat suits children and grandparents — no climbing at all. Four hours is long for toddlers, so pack snacks and something to do.
$78 per person on the group tour, or from $256 per vehicle for a private car with driver and guide. The group price includes the driver, guide and admission; the private price is for the whole vehicle, whatever the party size.
It runs 07:30 to 17:00 — about 9.5 hours from pick-up to drop-off, including the drive. If you are catching a train or flight the same evening, book it for after 18:30.

Two days. We do not accept same-day or next-day bookings because the car, guide and admission have to be arranged in advance. Cancellation is free up to 7 days before the tour; inside that it steps to 20% (6–3 days) and 60% (2–1 days), and nothing is refunded on the day itself.
The three-star boat is worth it: comfortable, roomy seats and two open decks for photos. The river does the rest — four hours inside a landscape painting.

We left from Mopanshan pier and stopped at the spot printed on the 20-yuan note. The rain cleared just in time — mist on the water, karst peaks fading in and out. The boat rides smoothly, so it suits older travellers too.
乘坐漓江三星游船，从磨盘山码头出发。中途停靠二十元人民币观景打卡点，出发前还下着雨，没过多久雨就停了，雨后江面雾气恰到好处，游船行驶平稳。
