How to take each option

How to board a daytime line

Fare ¥25 (¥15 Xianyang)
  1. Check your terminal: at T5 go to berth 04 outside Gate 512 on Level 1, at T3 to the GTC bus hall at check-in 5, and at T2 to berth 3 outside Gate 213.
  2. Buy at the counter for your destination — flat ¥25 on city lines, ¥15 to Xianyang. Showing the Chinese name of where you are going saves a lot of explaining.
  3. Hand your bags to the crew for the luggage hold and keep the ticket stub.
  4. Listen for the stops: the Bell Tower West Line runs via Chengxi Coach Station, Kaiyuanmen and Andingmen, while the Bell Tower North Line runs via the railway station south square and Wulukou.

Most lines stop near metro stations — Kaiyuanmen on Lines 1 and 8, Andingmen on Line 6, Wulukou on Lines 1 and 4 — so you can finish the trip by metro into the walled city.

Boarding late at night

Fare ¥25
  1. After 22:00 wait at the same coach bays for the Night Owl lines.
  2. Take line 1 (22:00–01:00) for the Bell Tower, Xi’an Hotel, the Provincial Stadium and the south ring road.
  3. Take line 2 (22:20–00:40) for Fengcheng 9th Road, Longshoucun, the railway station south square and Wulukou.
  4. After 01:00 there is still line 3, which keeps running until the last flight of the day.

Line 3 has no fixed last departure — it follows the last arriving flight, so there is no need to rush into a taxi when you land late.

If you are at the wrong terminal

  1. Check whether your line calls at this terminal — all nine lines board at T2, T3 and T5.
  2. If you still need to change, take the free 24-hour inter-terminal shuttle: outside Gate 512 at T5, Gate 316 at T3 and Gate 213 at T2, every 15–30 minutes.

All international flights use T5, and buses call at T5 either before or after T2 and T3 depending on the line, so check the terminal order on the stop sign before boarding.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

Three Night Owl lines cover the night: line 1 from 22:00 to 01:00, line 2 from 22:20 to 00:40 and line 3 from 01:00 until the last flight of the day, all at ¥25. Once they finish, only taxis remain, from 06:30 until the last arrival.
