Buses and coaches at Shenzhen Bao’an Airport (SZX): lines, fares and where to board

Two families of buses leave from the Ground Transportation Center, but not from the same door — get the door right and the rest is easy.

In short

Buses at Shenzhen Airport split into two families that board from different doors. The Airport Express coaches (the A and NA lines) number ten, cost ¥10–40, are sold at the counter beside Gate 17 of the Ground Transportation Center and leave from the GTC west platform, running direct to Futian Port, Nanshan, Longhua, Longgang, Pingshan, Guangming, Buji, Yanluo and Bao’an Xixiang; nine of them run overnight, with the NA1 Futian line going all the way to 05:00. The city buses number five, cost ¥2–10 and board outside Gate 16 on Level 2 of the GTC, including the M590 to the airport’s Fuyong ferry terminal and the M527 to Sea World. One important caveat: the express lines publish a service window plus a headway (every 30–60 minutes, for example) rather than a departure timetable, and the last night departure is flexed to the final arriving flight, so read the closing times below as the end of the scheduled window rather than as a guaranteed last bus. The earliest starter is the NA1 Futian line at 22:30 and the cheapest of all is the NA11 Bao’an Xixiang line at ¥10.

How to take each option

Taking an Airport Express coach

Fare ¥10–40
  1. After baggage claim, follow signs for the Ground Transportation Center and walk from arrivals into the GTC.
  2. Locate Gate 17 — the service counter is right beside it — name the stop you want and buy your ticket there (¥10–40).
  3. Board on the GTC west platform on the same side, checking the destination board on the front of the coach.
  4. Put suitcases in the luggage hold, keep your ticket stub and watch the onboard announcements or your map app for your stop.

The express lines publish a service window and a headway — mostly every 30–60 minutes — rather than a departure list, and the last night departure flexes to the final arriving flight. If you are in a hurry, skip them and take the metro from Level B1.

Taking a city bus

Fare ¥2–10
  1. Walk from arrivals into the GTC and go up one level to Level 2.
  2. Find Gate 16; the M592, M590, M387, A7 and M527 all depart from just outside it.
  3. Pay the fare shown inside the bus (¥2–10); keep small notes handy and hold on to your ticket.

The M590 is the short hop to the airport’s Fuyong ferry terminal (07:00–21:30, ¥2) and the M527 runs to Sea World in Shekou (07:00–22:00, ¥2–5). City buses stop often and have no luggage hold, so travel light or take an express coach.

Choosing the right line for your destination

  1. For the Futian CBD and the convention centre: the NA1 Futian coach (22:30–05:00, ¥25), or Metro Line 11 by day.
  2. For Futian Port and the Hong Kong crossings: the A10 Futian Port coach (07:00–21:00, ¥25).
  3. For Nanshan and Shenzhen Bay: the A3 Nanshan coach (¥20); for Sea World in Shekou, the M527 (¥2–5).
  4. For Longhua and Shenzhen North: the A2 / NA2 Longhua coach, which only runs 00:00–04:00 — by day take the metro to Shenzhen North.
  5. For Longgang, Pingshan, Guangming, Buji and Shajing–Songgang take A4 (¥35), A5 (¥40), NA6 (¥20), NA8 (¥25) and NA9 (¥20) respectively.

Late at night

  1. Once the metro has stopped, go to the counter beside Gate 17 of the GTC and ask which night lines are still departing.
  2. For Futian take the NA1 Futian line, ¥25, running until 05:00.
  3. For Longhua, Nanshan, Longgang, Pingshan, Guangming, Buji and Bao’an Xixiang the matching night lines run until somewhere between 02:00 and 04:00.
  4. When the buses have finished entirely, take a taxi from outside Gate 13, which runs 24 hours.

Last night departures are flexed to the final arriving flight, so treat the closing times as indicative — what the counter tells you on the spot is the most reliable answer.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

Ten of the fifteen lines run overnight: the NA1 Futian line until 05:00; the A2/NA2 Longhua, A3 Nanshan, A4 Longgang, A5 Pingshan, NA6 Guangming and NA11 Bao’an Xixiang lines until 04:00; the NA8 Buji line until 02:00; and the NA9 Yanluo line from 01:30. Fares run ¥10–40, tickets come from the counter beside Gate 17 of the GTC and boarding is on the west platform, with the last departure flexed to the final arriving flight. Once the buses stop, taxis run 24 hours outside Gate 13.

Questions travellers ask

Where do the buses leave from at Shenzhen Airport?

Airport Express coaches are sold at the counter beside Gate 17 of the GTC and board on the west platform; city buses board outside Gate 16 on GTC Level 2. The two are different places — do not mix them up.

How much are the buses from Shenzhen Airport?

Airport Express coaches cost ¥10–40 and city buses ¥2–10. The cheapest coach is the NA11 Bao’an Xixiang line at ¥10 and the dearest is the A5 Pingshan line at ¥40.

Which bus goes from Shenzhen Airport to Futian?

The NA1 Futian line, ¥25, running 22:30–05:00 via Shenhang Building ② and Investment Building ② to the Science Museum transfer stop. By day, take Metro Line 11 to Futian instead.

Is there a bus to Shenzhen North railway station?

Yes, but overnight only: the A2 / NA2 Longhua coach runs 00:00–04:00, ¥25, terminating at the North Station West Square emergency car park. Take the metro during the day.

How do I get to Hong Kong by bus from Shenzhen Airport?

The A10 Futian Port line costs ¥25 and runs 07:00–21:00 to the Futian Port City Terminal, a short walk from the crossing. The M590 (¥2) links you to the airport ferry terminal for onward boats.

Are there buses running late at night?

Yes. Ten of the fifteen lines run overnight, with the NA1 Futian line until 05:00 and most others until somewhere between 02:00 and 04:00; fares are ¥10–40 from the counter beside GTC Gate 17.

How often do the airport buses run?

Most lines publish a headway of every 30–60 minutes rather than a departure timetable, and the last night departure shifts with the final arriving flight.

Which bus goes to Shekou or Sea World?

The M527 between Sea World and Bao’an Airport station, ¥2–5, 07:00–22:00, boarding outside Gate 16 on GTC Level 2.

Can I take big suitcases on the bus?

Airport Express coaches have a luggage hold under the floor and are built for travellers with bags; city buses stop frequently and leave little room for suitcases, so take a coach or the metro instead.

Should I take the bus or the metro?

For places Line 11 serves directly, such as Futian and Nanshan, the metro takes 30 minutes and ¥7–8 and is quicker and more predictable; for Longgang, Pingshan, Guangming, Futian Port or the ferry terminal the coaches reach your door with far less hassle.
