Chengdu Shuangliu Airport (CTU) to Chengdu East railway station

No need to go into the city first: Shuangliu Airport station sits directly beneath T2, and the fastest trains reach Chengdu East in 15 minutes for ¥8 — far quicker than any road option.

In short

Shuangliu is one of the few Chinese airports where you can board a high-speed train inside the terminal complex. Shuangliu Airport station sits directly beneath Terminal 2, with its entrance in the L3 corridor on Level B2: follow the blue high-speed rail signs down from the T2 arrivals level, about 5 to 10 minutes on foot. It is a stop on the Chengdu–Mianyang–Leshan intercity railway and an intermediate station on the Chengdu–Guiyang high-speed line, and the fastest trains reach Chengdu East in 15 minutes and Chengdu South in 10, second class ¥8 either way. Roughly 23 pairs of trains pass through each day, and the station opens at 06:20 and closes at 22:50. Two things to watch: headways are uneven, so check live departures on 12306 before you commit, and Terminal 1 has no direct passage to the railway station — T1 passengers take the free shuttle (roughly 06:00 to 00:40 daily) or walk about 8 minutes to T2 first. If you miss the train or land after the station closes at 22:50, fall back on the metro: Line 10 towards Wuhou Shrine for five stops to Taipingyuan, then Line 7 on the outer loop to Chengdu East Railway Station, about 50–55 minutes and roughly ¥6 on third-party routing figures rather than an official fare. In a hurry or with heavy bags, a taxi takes about 35 minutes; the ¥60–80 bracket quoted here is a third-party travel-site reference range, not an official price. Chengdu East is the city’s main high-speed station, with onward services towards Chongqing, Xi’an, Guangzhou, Kunming and Guiyang.

How to take each option

The intercity train from Shuangliu Airport station (recommended)

Time 15 minFare ¥8 second classFirst 06:20Last 22:50
  1. After baggage claim do not leave the building: on the T2 arrivals level follow the blue high-speed rail signs down to Level B2.
  2. Walk along the L3 corridor to Shuangliu Airport station, about 5 to 10 minutes, indoors the whole way with lifts and escalators.
  3. Check departures on 12306 before you go: the station is open 06:20 to 22:50 with about 23 pairs a day but uneven headways, so do not just turn up and wait.
  4. Buy a ticket and go through (¥8 second class). The fastest trains take 15 minutes to Chengdu East, calling at Chengdu South after about 10 minutes.
  5. On arrival follow the high-speed rail signs into the departure hall for your onward train.

The line is the Chengdu–Mianyang–Leshan intercity railway, also a stop on the Chengdu–Guiyang high-speed line, with provincial services to and from Kunming South, Guiyang North, Liupanshui, Guangzhou South, Xi’an North and Chongqing West. A third-party fare site lists first class at ¥13 against ¥8 for second, with a running time of 15–18 minutes over 21 km. Passengers at Terminal 1 have no direct passage and must shuttle or walk across to T2 first.

Metro Line 10 then Line 7 (the fallback)

Time About 50–55 minFare About ¥6 (third-party query)First 06:00Last 23:12
  1. Follow the metro signs to Line 10: outside exit 4 on the arrivals level at T1, or in the L2, L3 and L4 corridors on Level B2 at T2.
  2. Take a train towards Wuhou Shrine: first train 06:00 from Terminal 2 and 06:03 from Terminal 1, last train 23:12 and 23:15 respectively.
  3. Ride five stops to Taipingyuan and change inside the station to Line 7 on the outer loop, getting off at Chengdu East Railway Station.
  4. The whole trip takes about 50–55 minutes over roughly 23.7 km and costs about ¥6 on third-party routing figures, which are not official fares.

This is the only rail option after the train station closes at 22:50, though the last metro leaves at 23:12 and 23:15 and after that a taxi is the only way. The change at Taipingyuan involves a walk, so with big bags or a train to catch, the intercity train is the better choice.

Taxi or ride-hailing

Time About 35 minFare Metered
  1. Follow the taxi signs to the official rank: about 50 m south of Exit 6 on the T1 arrivals level, and at the pedestrian crossing on the T2 arrivals level.
  2. Show the driver the Chinese characters for Chengdu East, say you have a train to catch, and ask for the meter.
  3. Pay the metered fare plus the airport expressway toll and take a receipt; for ride-hailing, follow the signs to the designated car park.

Both the 35-minute journey and the ¥60–80 range are third-party travel-site references rather than official figures. In light traffic the door-to-door time is close to the train’s, but the cost is many times higher, so it only makes sense late at night or for three or four people together.

Late-night and early-morning arrivals

Shuangliu Airport station closes at 22:50. After that you can still make Chengdu East by metro — the last Line 10 train towards the city leaves Terminal 2 at 23:12 and Terminal 1 at 23:15, with a change to Line 7 at Taipingyuan — while Line 19 towards Jinxing runs until 00:16 and Line 30 until 23:10. Once the metro stops there is only the taxi rank and ride-hailing, both around the clock, with the night tariff from 23:00 to 06:00 adding ¥1 to the flag fall and ¥0.3 to every kilometre. Night express route 1 serves Chunxi Road only and will not take you to Chengdu East.

Take the train inside the airport. Shuangliu Airport station is in the L3 corridor on Level B2 of T2, about 5 to 10 minutes on foot, and the fastest services reach Chengdu East in 15 minutes for ¥8 second class. If you miss it or the station has closed, take Line 10 to Taipingyuan and change to Line 7 on the outer loop, about 50–55 minutes.

How long does it take to get from Shuangliu Airport to Chengdu East?

The train takes as little as 15 minutes, with a third-party fare site quoting 15–18 minutes over 21 km. Add the 5–10 minute walk down from arrivals and some waiting time and you are boarding roughly 30–40 minutes after landing. The metro alternative takes about 50–55 minutes and a taxi about 35, though the taxi is exposed to traffic.

How much is the train from Shuangliu Airport to Chengdu East?

¥8 in second class. A third-party fare site also lists first class at ¥13; the second-class figure matches what the airport website and the Shuangliu district government publish.

Where is the railway station in the airport, and is it easy to find?

Directly beneath Terminal 2, entered from the L3 corridor on Level B2. Follow the blue high-speed rail signs down from the arrivals level, about 5 to 10 minutes, indoors with lifts throughout. The same level also holds the Line 10, Line 19 and Line 30 metro entrances in the L2, L3 and L4 corridors, so check which corridor you are in.

What are the station opening hours?

It opens at 06:20 and closes at 22:50, with about 23 pairs of trains a day. Headways are uneven, so check live departures on 12306 before walking over.

How much time should I allow to reach Chengdu East?

International arrivals usually take 45–60 minutes from touchdown to the arrivals hall. Add 5–10 minutes down to the platform, 10–20 minutes waiting and a 15-minute ride: allow at least 1.5 hours from landing. If you arrive on a late flight, remember the station closes at 22:50.

I land at Terminal 1 — how do I get to the railway station?

There is no direct passage from Terminal 1. Take the free shuttle between T1 and T2 (roughly 06:00 to 00:40 daily) or walk about 8 minutes across, then enter the station from the L3 corridor on Level B2. Since 30 July 2026 some Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan flights have been moving to Terminal 1 in batches, so confirm your terminal before you fly.

Is there any way to Chengdu East if I land late?

The train station closes at 22:50 and the last Line 10 train towards the city leaves Terminal 2 at 23:12 and Terminal 1 at 23:15, with a change to Line 7 for Chengdu East. Later than that only taxis and ride-hailing remain, running 24 hours with the night tariff from 23:00 to 06:00.

Is the route to Chengdu East the same from Tianfu Airport?

No, they are different. From Shuangliu you use the intercity station beneath T2, 15 minutes for ¥8. Tianfu Airport has its own station under the terminal on the Chengdu–Zigong–Yibin high-speed line, about 27 minutes with second class from around ¥20, plus express line 4 at about 60 minutes. The two airports are a long way apart, so plan each on its own terms.

Can I buy the ticket at the airport?

The station has ticket counters and machines, and you can also buy in advance on 12306. Because headways are uneven, it is worth checking times and buying on your phone before you land rather than waiting at the station.

Where can I go on from Chengdu East?

Chengdu East is the city’s main high-speed station, and the airport’s own page lists provincial services to and from Kunming South, Guiyang North, Liupanshui, Guangzhou South, Xi’an North and Chongqing West. Check 12306 or this site for individual trains and fares.
