In short
You do not have to cover this by road. Fenghuang Airport station sits on the west loop of the Hainan Ring High-speed Railway, running Haikou to Sanya via Yazhou, and on the Sanya–Ledong tourist railway from Jianfeng North via Tianya Haijiao, and it is joined to the departures drop-off deck with its main entrance on the west side of Terminal 1. Follow the railway signs; the airport publishes no official walking time. Running time is as little as 8 minutes, the C7414 leaving 16:34 and arriving 16:42, with most services taking 11 to 12 minutes, such as C7409 and C7410 departing 16:10 and arriving 16:22. The published fares are ¥8 in second class and ¥13 in first, and since 23 April 2022 fares float between that published ceiling and a floor of 66% of it. Towards Sanya the first departure is around 07:07, the Sanya–Ledong service S6714 reaching Sanya station at 07:41, and the last leaves at 22:29, arriving 22:40; another published timetable gives a first west-loop departure of 08:30, so check 12306 for your date. The station is small, with two security scanners and ticket windows and gates on the same level. Three things deserve a warning. Neither airport coach finishes at Sanya station, Line 1 running to Yalong Bay and Line 2 to the Haitang Bay duty-free mall, so a bus will not get you there. No tram serves the airport, and its northern terminus, Sanya Railway Station, is precisely this side of town, so even the tram means taking this train first. And when there is no train left, take a taxi or a ride-hailing car, which third-party sites put at 20 to 30 minutes and ¥25–50, a reference range rather than an official price. Sanya station itself is one of the main stations on the Ring line and the hub for Haikou East and Meilan Airport in one direction and Yazhou and Ledong on the west loop.
