In short
Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport sits some thirty-odd kilometres south-east of central Zhengzhou in the aviation district, and Terminal 2 comes with its own ground transport centre: both the metro and the intercity station are on level B2, coaches leave from outside Door 2 on Level 1, and taxis and ride-hailing cars wait on the south and north sides of the Level 2 link corridor. Four routes into the city are worth considering. The first is Metro Chengjiao Line, whose trains run through towards Jiahe and Liuzhuang and connect with Line 2 at Nansihuan, with the first departure at 06:00 and the last at 22:15. The transport guide board inside the terminal quotes about one hour and fifteen minutes to Dongdajie at ¥2–¥7, ¥7 to Dongdajie; that board reaches us through a transcription rather than anything published on the airport website, so take it as a reference range and not an official fare. The second is the intercity train: from the same level B2, Xinzheng Airport station has direct trains to Zhengzhou station taking about 24 minutes at the fastest, with no fare published by the airport, so trust 12306. Towards Zhengzhou the first intercity train leaves at 07:05 and the last at 22:57, roughly every 18 minutes on average. The third is a taxi or a ride-hailing car, available around the clock with a ¥2 supplement on every trip between 22:00 and 05:00; the guide board puts it at about 34 minutes and ¥80–110 to Dongdajie, third-party travel sites at 40–50 minutes and ¥70–110, and both are reference ranges rather than official prices. The fourth is the airport express coach serving the Civil Aviation Hotel, Zhengbian Road and Zijingshan at ¥20 in a coach or ¥35 in a saloon car, running from 08:30 to 23:00 and then onwards until 40 minutes after the last scheduled flight, with the guide board quoting about 37 minutes; add to that a door-to-door shared ride at ¥49 a seat inside the Third Ring Road and ¥59 inside the Fourth Ring. One caveat ties all of this together: Zhengzhou publishes its tariff and nothing else. There are official rates — ¥10 covering the first 3 km, ¥2 per km after that, a 50% empty-run surcharge beyond 12 km on a one-way trip, ¥2 per trip between 22:00 and 05:00 — but no official airport-to-centre reference fare exists, so the meter is the number that counts.

How to take each option
Taking Metro Chengjiao Line into the city
Time About 1 h 15 min to DongdajieFare ¥2–¥7 (guide board)First 06:00Last 22:15
- After baggage claim follow the metro and intercity rail signs down from the Terminal 2 arrivals level; the long escalator behind the information desk drops straight to level B2.
- Mind which gates you choose: rail gates for Zhengzhou East, Xuchang and Zhoukou, metro gates for the city, only tens of metres apart on the same level.
- Buy a single-journey token at the machines or scan in with a transit code from Alipay or WeChat; a ride to the Dongdajie area falls in the ¥2–¥7 band quoted on the guide board, not an official per-station price.
- Board a train bound for Jiahe or Liuzhuang and change at Nansihuan for Line 2, then carry on towards wherever you are staying.
- City-bound trains start at 06:00 and the last leaves at 22:15; miss it and you are down to a taxi or whichever coach is still running.
The Zhengzhou Metro site publishes only the first and last city-bound departures from Xinzheng Airport station, 06:00 to 22:15, and no official fare to individual stops, so the hour-and-a-quarter ride and the ¥2–¥7 come from a transcription of the guide board and are indicative. The same hub also serves the Zhengxu line towards Xuchang East, 06:14 to 21:14.
Intercity train to Zhengzhou station
Time About 24 min at the fastestFare Check 12306First 07:05Last 22:57
- Follow the intercity rail signs down from arrivals to the B1 concourse and check the day’s departures on 12306; platforms 1 and 3 at Xinzheng Airport station are dedicated to intercity trains.
- Watch the destination on the ticket, Zhengzhou or Zhengzhou East, since the airport confirms services to Zhengzhou station, Zhengzhou East, Songcheng in Kaifeng and Jiaozuo.
- The fastest trains reach Zhengzhou station in about 24 minutes, dropping you at the old central station with walking, taxi and bus options right outside.
No fare to Zhengzhou station appears on the airport site, so this page quotes none and defers to 12306. Trains towards Zhengzhou average about 18 minutes apart, though how many call at Zhengzhou station depends on the day’s timetable.
Taxi or ride-hailing
Time About 34 min to Dongdajie (guide board)Fare Metered, plus ¥2 at night
- Follow the taxi and ride-hailing signs up to GTC Level 2 and walk through link corridor 1 or 2.
- At the end the corridor forks: turn left for taxis and right for ride-hailing, each with its own queue.
- Show the driver your hotel’s Chinese name and address and ask for the meter; on arrival pay the metered figure plus the airport expressway toll and take the receipt.
Every trip between 22:00 and 05:00 carries a ¥2 supplement. The ¥70–110 from third-party travel sites and the ¥80–110 transcribed from the guide board are reference ranges only; Zhengzhou has never published an official fare. For refusal or illegal bargaining, note the plate and call 12328.
Airport express coach and shared rides
Time About 37 min to Civil Aviation Hotel (guide board)Fare ¥20 / ¥35; shared rides from ¥49 a seat
- Come back up to Level 1 of Terminal 2 and go out through Door 2; stands 2 to 4 serve the city express lines and the shared-ride counters.
- Choose by destination: the Civil Aviation Hotel, Zhengbian Road and Zijingshan line suits hotels along Jinshui Road, while the Zhengzhou Railway Station line suits anyone changing trains there.
- The fare follows the vehicle: ¥20 on a full-size coach, ¥35 in a saloon car. Shared rides cost ¥49 a seat inside the Third Ring and ¥59 inside the Fourth Ring with up to 30 minutes of waiting, while private cars leave at once at ¥99 within the Third Ring and ¥128 within the Fourth.
Coaches start at 08:30 and after 23:00 keep running until forty minutes after the last scheduled flight, the rare guarantee that a late landing still has a coach. For current departures call 0371-68519508 between 09:00 and 24:00, or 0371-68516511 between 00:00 and 09:00.
Late-night and early-morning arrivals
Work through a late arrival in this order: has the metro stopped, past 22:15 towards the city; is there still an intercity train, past 22:57 towards Zhengzhou; if both have gone you are down to taxis, ride-hailing and the coaches. All three city express lines — Civil Aviation Hotel, Zhengzhou Railway Station and Jianguo Hotel — run until forty minutes after the last scheduled flight, so in principle a coach exists however late you land, though shared rides stop at 22:00 and private cars at 23:00. Taxis and ride-hailing are available around the clock, and between 22:00 and 05:00 every trip carries the ¥2 night supplement, the only official surcharge in the Zhengzhou tariff.
Questions travellers ask
What is the fastest way from Zhengzhou Xinzheng Airport to the city centre?
It depends on the part of town: around Zhengzhou railway station the fastest option is the intercity train beneath the terminal at about 24 minutes, while for the Dongdajie area a taxi is quickest off-peak at roughly 34 minutes and Metro Chengjiao Line takes about an hour and a quarter but ignores traffic. At rush hour ride the rails.
Is there a metro at Zhengzhou airport, and when does it stop?
Yes. Metro Chengjiao Line serves Xinzheng Airport station on level B2 of the Terminal 2 transport centre, with the first city-bound train towards Jiahe or Liuzhuang at 06:00 and the last at 22:15. The Zhengxu line shares the same hub, running 06:14 to 21:14 towards Xuchang East and 06:07 to 22:00 towards Chang’an Road North.
How much is the metro from the airport to the city centre?
Zhengzhou Metro publishes no official fare to individual stops; the guide board inside the terminal quotes ¥2–¥7, with ¥7 to Dongdajie. We treat that as a reference range rather than an official price, so rely on what the ticket machine shows.
How much is a taxi from Zhengzhou airport to the city centre?
There is no official price. Zhengzhou publishes only the tariff: ¥10 for the first 3 km, ¥2 per km after that, a 50% empty-run surcharge beyond 12 km on a one-way trip, ¥2 per trip between 22:00 and 05:00, plus the airport expressway toll that the passenger pays. Metered that way, third-party travel sites quote ¥70–110 for 40–50 minutes and the guide board ¥80–110 for about 34 minutes to Dongdajie, both reference ranges rather than official fares.
What is the cheapest way into Zhengzhou?
Metro Chengjiao Line, at ¥2–¥7 on the guide board. If three or four of you are travelling with heavy bags, the door-to-door shared ride is competitive at ¥49 a seat inside the Third Ring and ¥59 inside the Fourth Ring, and a private car at ¥99 or ¥128 is not far off the metro once split between you.
Is there a railway station inside the airport, and is it any use for reaching the city?
Yes — Xinzheng Airport station, code EZF, occupies the B1 concourse and B2 platforms of the GTC. Its best-known ride is the fifteen to seventeen minute hop to Zhengzhou East for ¥12, but it also has direct trains to Zhengzhou station in about 24 minutes, and Zhengzhou station is right in the centre, so the train does help you get into town. The airport lists no fare, so check 12306.
I need Zhengzhou East to catch a high-speed train — how do I get there?
Take the intercity train from the same hub: fifteen to seventeen minutes and ¥12, with 41 pairs of trains a day averaging one every 22 minutes. Towards Zhengzhou East the first departure is 07:27 and the last 22:57, though the operator also quotes a first train at 07:05 towards Zhengzhou. This site has a dedicated page on that journey.
Is there public transport if I land at Zhengzhou airport late at night?
Yes, and unusually so: all three city express lines keep running until forty minutes after the last scheduled flight. The last city-bound metro leaves at 22:15 and the last intercity train towards Zhengzhou at 22:57, so beyond that check whether a coach is still departing; failing that a taxi is always available, with the ¥2 supplement between 22:00 and 05:00.
Can I pay with a foreign bank card at the airport?
Zhengzhou taxis generally take cash plus WeChat Pay and Alipay QR payment, though the airport states this nowhere officially. Travel guides mention a payment-service desk near the international and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan arrivals exit at T2 that helps overseas visitors link an international card, but nothing confirms it. Link your card to Alipay or WeChat before you fly and carry some cash as well.
Is the metro manageable with big suitcases?
Escalators and lifts run the whole way from arrivals down to the metro, which beats dragging bags around outside, but city-centre changes still involve walking and rush-hour trains are crowded. With heavy bags, or three or four of you, the door-to-door shared ride is easier.
