提醒
- Class A Mogao tickets must be reserved about 30 days ahead on the official booking site and sell out in high season. A Class B emergency ticket (¥100) gets you four caves only.
- Photography is banned outright inside the caves, phones included. The guide lights them by torch — do not use your own.
- Desert days swing hard between hot and cold, and UV is extreme. Hat, sunglasses, sun sleeves and a dust mask are all necessary.
- The dune ticket allows repeat entry within three days — go back at sunset if you want the light, independently of this tour.
- Climbing the dunes is harder than it looks. Take the boardwalk with steps; bare sand burns at midday.
Dunes first, caves second works well with children. The caves are dim and involve standing for a while, so under-fives may struggle.
