The two sites are 15 km apart and are usually sold as one combined ticket. Missing Beishan cuts the day in half.

- Everything worth seeing at Dazu is a story, and without the story it is just rock. The 4.5 hours of guiding and the headsets are included — stay within range of the guide.
- Baodingshan is a one-way walk of about 2.5 km with steps and slopes. Wear proper shoes, and bring a hat in summer.
- The museum closes on Mondays except during public holidays; when it does, Baodingshan moves to the morning and the guiding time stays the same.
- The combined ticket is valid for two days — keep it if you want to walk Beishan again on your own.
- April to October is peak season and the queues in front of the Thousand-Hand Guanyin and the reclining Buddha get long; the guide reorders stops to stay ahead of the coaches.
Best for travellers with an interest in stone carving and Buddhist art. The walking is moderate; children under seven tire on the Beishan leg, so consider shortening it.
